All remaining indices are closed to public search and are held by the Registrar General of Ontario. Indices are by year by surname available at Archives of Ontario, many public libraries and LDS Family History Centres or Family History Library Some OGS branches have published indices for events occuring in their area. Note: Marriages 1869 through 1873 are indexed in a series of printed volumes by year, by surname and further arranged by county. Some BMDs registered starting in 1895 while Saskatchewan was still considered as being in the Northwest Territories. Saskatchewan became a province during 1905 at which time BMDs became the responsibility of the province. BMDs kept more systematically as of 1920 but full registration was not achieved until 1930. |
