Last day at Family History Centre until 6 January 2004. Hectic day! Scrambling to identify and retrieve copies from newly arrived microfilms of Italian civil birth and marriage registrations for client;  review of indices of and transcription from numerous Welland County cemetery records as part of preliminary for research proposal for new client;  transliterating excerpts from early 16th-century Deposition Register of Archbishop of Canterbury;  and completing examination of Ospringe marriage banns book and Faversham Bishop's Transcript of burials post 1863. More mundane activities included assessing and extending films due to be returned or renewed during shutdown and burning of CD of FHC film and fiche holdings for transfer from Access Database format into format that will permit import into centre's Inventory Manager program (a project for me during the holidays).

Family History Centre duty day: First fellow up was just starting research of his Scottish ancestry and stuck at early stage. Found his grandmother on 1881 British Census Index living with her family. She born 1877. Put him in the know about Scotlandspeople website. Next up, prompt fairly new patron concerning her Harris lady who was not born until after 1881 census time. Reviewed 1891 census data with her and advised re 1841 and 1851 census anomolies. Advised re FHL film ordering numbers. Next up, new patron seeking Irish roots. Appointment made for him to return next Tuesday. Started extraction of Canterbury marriage licence entries 1751-1837 for contact on Kent mailing list. Started extractions from Maidstone parish register for my own Hodges and Ruck families. Oh! Some interesting snippets coming out of the register entries could lead the Hodges back into an interesting family connection!
