June, 2006
June 7:  We are happy to announce a new service.  It is now possible to order birth, marriage and death certificates for events in England and Wales directly from our web site.  Eventually, this record retrieval service will extend to other countries and other records.  For a taste of other records that will soon be available for events in England and Wales click here.

May 8:  The Research Planning Aid for Wiltshire has now been completed and added to this site.  The IGI Batch numbers are under review and will be updated during the summer.  The Research Planning Aid also links through to a newly up-dated Genealogy Directory Page for Wiltshire.  Note that this Research Planning Aid now includes the indices produced and searchable on Family History Online, the sister website of the Federation of Family History Societies in England.  We hope you find this new tool useful in your search for Wiltshire ancestors.

April, 2006
Apr 9:  We have now added a soundex conversion chart to our website and up-dated the roman numeral calculator.
Apr 9:  We have made a radical change to our home page.  We hope that you will find this newest update in style and navigation convenience will make it easier for you to see and reach all of the different areas of our website.  Simply hold your mouse over one of the gold icons to display a secondary menu of choices.  If no menu appears, then click once on the icon to make the menu appear and another click to make the menu disappear.  Some secondary menus will display above the icon you select and some will display below the icon you select.  Some of the secondary menus have up to eleven or twelve items on them.  So, you may have to move the scroll bar for the page (the one at the right-hand side of the webpage) either all the way to the top arrow, all the way to the bottom arrow or somewhere in between the two arrows.

There are still some incompatibilities of our site with Opera and Firefox web browsers which we hope you will not find to be of too great an inconvenience or deterrent to exploring our website.  The basic incompabilities are found in internal page links that often do not function in Opera or Firefox browsers.  The way to overcome those problems is to simply use your scroll buttons, either on your mouse or on the right-hand side of the webpage to see the full contents of that page.  We have also discovered that to enjoy the Wordsearch puzzles on our website you will have to switch over to Internet Explorer.  Opera users will also find that the floating table headings on some quick reference charts, although they do float down the page and stay in view, are rendered semi-transparent so that the writing underneath shows through the table heading layer.

Similar incompatibilities exist in Netscape browsers.  First, you must be using Netscape 7.0 or higher to fully enjoy this site.  Some internal page links on some pages function, while others on the same page do not function.  The way to overcome this problem is to simply use your scroll buttons, either on your mouse or on the right-hand side of the webpage to see the full contents of that page.  We have also discovered that to enjoy the Wordsearch puzzles on our website you will have to switch over to Internet Explorer.  Lastly, the floating table headings on some quick reference charts that will display without problem in Internet Explorer are not understood by Netscape and will remain at the top of the table.

February, 2006
Feb 9:  We are now in a position to offer e-book versions of all of our own publications, including the East Kent Families Database by surname.  We have not yet had an opportunity to fully amend our order forms to reflect this option but will do so over the next few weeks.  In the meantime, any new purchases coming in to our office for an e-book version will have the shipping and handling charges removed automatically from the total cost of the publication.  All e-books will be produced in pdf format and posted to a secure area of our website for a time-limited retrieval.  We hope that you will like this additional publishing method, which has been undertaken in an effort to reduce the overall cost to you.
Feb 9:  The East Kent Families Database has now climbed to encompass more than 205,000 entries.  Our database order page has been amended to reflect the new total and also amended to reflect the rising costs of postage.

January, 2006
Jan 7:  Our FAQs page for IGI questions has now grown to a size that required reorganization.  FAQs questions can be read on the Questions page and the answers to those questions are linked through onto a separate Answers page.  Link buttons appear on each page that will lead you to either the questions or answers page, as the case may require.  Happy reading!  I hope you will find some answers to your questions concerning the I.G.I. here.
Jan 7:  Website updates that occurred during 2005 have been archived and can be viewed on News 2005.
Jan 7:  To all of our past and future clients, patrons and supporters, please accept our best wishes for your health and happiness throughout 2006.  Our offices will resume work on January 16.
