Ancestral Collectives was hacked!
Feb 19: Late on February 18th I discovered, much to my horror, that the TNG portion of our website, which holds the large family database, had been the subject of numerous attempts at hijacking and hacking. These attempts, according to the massive error log left behind, began on or about 2 February and continued through 16 February, 2009. Although the data was not corrupted by these would-be hackers, their attempts have left the program incapable of communicating with the databases and it has become necessary to remove the data and the program. Over the next few days we will be working to restore the data with a new version of The Next Generation program and should have it working again by early next week. We apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment. |

WE ARE MOVING!
Dec 4: Well, it seems that 2008 is going to close in much the same way as it opened - with yet another round of challenges to stare-down. We are going to be moving our web hosting from our current web hosting company and ISP to a new company during this month. Although we are aiming to have no service disruptions in the availability of this website, due to the nature of web server propagation you may experience some website downtime during the change over. We are taking every step possible to reduce any disruption in service. The process should be seamless from the visitor's perspective but if you have any difficulties please drop us a line at info@ancestrysolutions.com. I would strongly suggest that you save this webpage to your desktop so that if you do experience difficulties with the site you will at least have the link available, to you, to email us. |

Dec 4: A new design for the website is in the works. The first change is the inclusion of the search box on every page with links to a website-wide index and table of contents. The navigation bar is also changing and will be removed from the top and side of all pages to a clean navigation interface, containing all of the website links, positioned immediately below Ancestry Solution's title and logo. The footer of all pages will also be changed to the format seen on this page and on the home page. The changes that are evident on this page and the home page are only a small intermediary step towards the complete redesign. All re-design work is expected to be completed by 6 January 2009. |

Dec 4: This has been a long and arduous year filled with many roadblocks and setbacks. The launching of the East Kent Families Database on CD and DVD contained many frustrating occurrences in design, production and delivery consuming most of our time for the better part of the first six months of 2008. An injury during May left me unable to work until August. Since September I have been engaged in several long-term research contracts that have reduced the time available for addressing the need of fresh content and design on this website. But, 2009 looks as if its poised to be a far better and much more productive year for Ancestry Solutions. |
