IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN, I, JOHN STACY, of Bradford, in the County of Somerset, searge [sic] maker, being sick and weak of body but of sound and perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following,
First and above all things I recommend my soul into the hands of almighty God my maker hoping through the merits and mediation of Jewsus Christ my only saviour and redeemer to receive full parden and free remission of all my sins.
Item, whereas I am lawfully and rightfully seized of and in all that cottage and premises with the appurtenances wherein I now dwell situate in Bradford aforesaid in the said County of Somerset of a good sure absolute and indefeazible estate or inheritance in fee simply my will and meaning is and I do hereby give, devise, and bequeath the same unto my son, EDWARD STACY, and the heirs of his body lawfully begotten and for want of such heirs to my daughter DOROTHY STACY and the heirs of her body lawfully to be begotten and for want of such heirs to my brother EDWARD STACY and the heirs of his body lawfully begotten and for want of such heirs to my brother, BENJAMIN STACY and his heirs forever.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my said son EDWARD STACY the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds to be paid into the hands of my Trustees by my Executrix hereafter named, vizt one hundred pounds thereof within one year after my decease and the other one hundred and fifty pounds within twenty months after my decease.
Item, I give him also the bed and bedstead with the furniture thereunto belonging which now standeth in the parlour chamber to be delivered unto him when he shall attain unto the full age of one and twenty years. I give him also all my furnaces with the appurtenances thereunto belonging and the brass pann which I usually wash wool in and also I give unto my said son EDWARD all my table boards and one vottle frame and all my gunns and pistolls and my sword and bolt.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my said daughter DOROTHY STACY the sum of three hundred pounds to be paid as followeth, vizt. one hundred pounds thereof within twelve months after my decease one hundred pounds more thereof within twenty months after my decease and the other one hundred pounds residue thereof within six months then next following. I give her also one bed and bedstead with the furniture belonging to it which now standeth in the kitchin chamber. And my will is that if either of said two children shall happen to die befire they shall accomplish the full age of one and twenty years that then the survivor of them shall hold and enjoy the whole portion of he or she so dying.
Item, I give and bequeath to the poor of the said parish of Bradford the sum of fourty shillings to be paid into the hands of the overseers of the poor of the said parish immediately after my decease and to be distributed at their discretion. And also my will is that if any desperate debts shall happen to be amounting to above the sum of five pounds the loss and charge thereof shall be born by my Executrix hereafter name and my said two children equally share and share alike.
Item, all the rest of my monies, goods, chattels, household stuff, debts, and personal estate whatsoever my debts and legacies being first paid and funeral expenses discharged, I give and bequeath unto my dear wife GRACE STACY whom I do hereby constitute and appoint to be my whole and sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament. And I do hereby constitute and appoint my dear father EDWARD STACY and my very good friend Mr. ROBERT LEGH both of Bradford aforesaid to be Overseers and Trustees of this my Will and I give them for their pains one piece of broad gold a piece and a good ring a piece and what reasonable charges they shall be at in execution of their trusteeship shall be satisfied and paid out of my said two children's portions.
And lastly, my will is that after my said Trustees have received the abovementioned sums of two hundred and fifty pounds and three hundred pounds in manner as is above expressed they shall pay to my said wife and Executrix the sum of twenty pounds yearly and every year during the minority of my said two children and I desire that they may continue and be with their mother and under her tuition and care during the time aforesaid.
And I do hereby revoke, disannull and make void all former Wills and Testaments by me at any time heretofore made and do declare this to be my last Will and Testament.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I, the said JOHN STACY have hereunto put my hand and seal this nine and twentieth day of May in the second year of the reign of our sovereign Lord and Lady William and Mary by the grace of God of England, Scotland, France and Ireland, King and Queen, defenders of the faith etc. Anno Domini one thousand six hundred and ninety.

PROBATUM fuit huimoi Testanitum apud London coram venli et egregie viro Dmo Richardo Ranies Milite legum dcore curio prerogat cantuar Magro custode sive comrie clime constituto quarto die mensis Julii Anno Dom millimo sexcennio et nonagenie juramente GRACIAE STACY relic dci defuncti et Exetricis in dco Testamente nominati cui comissa fuit admistraco omm et singulorum bonorum jurim et creotorum eiusdem defc de bone et fidelr admistrando eadem ad Sancta Dei Evangelia rigore commis jurat exh.
PROBATE made of the within Will at London before the Right Worshipful Sir Richard Ranies, Knight, Doctor of Laws, Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury the fourth day of the month of July in the year of our Lord one thousand, six hundred and ninety by the lawfully constituted oath of GRACE STACY relict of the said deceased and Executrix named in the said Will to whom administration of all and singular the goods, chattels and credits of the deceased was granted they having been first sworn by Commission duly to administer. Exhibited.
