IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN, this eighteenth day of June in the year of our Lord God, one thousand six hundred forty nine, I, WILLIAM RUCK, of Kingsdown, in the County of Kent, yeoman, being sick in body, but sound in mind, and of perfect memory praised be God, to make, and ordain, this my testament containing therein my last Will as followeth,
Inprimis, I give and bequeath my soul into the merciful hands of Almighty God my blessed creator and redeemer, and my body to the earth to be buried and for my temporal estate both real and personal which God in mercy hath given unto me, I thus in his fear dispose of it.
First, I give and bequeath unto the poor of the parish of Boughton under the Blean forty shillings to be distributed among them at the discretion of mine Executrix within one month after my decease.
All other my goods, chattels, and debts I give and bequeath to AMY my loving wife, whom I do make my sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament.
And whereas all my lands and tenements whatsoever and wheresoever are more cared for the payment of monies, as in the mortgage is expressed, now I do hereby give and bequeath all the said lands, and tenements unto my said wife AMEY, and to her heirs and assigns forever, to the intent and purpose that the same may be sold within one year after my decease and the debts for which they were mortgaged, and all other debts whatsoever which I owe, and the interests for the same, shall be well and truly paid, and whatsoever money shall be raised out of the sale of the said lands and tenements over and above what shall be employed in the payment of my said debts, my will is it shall remain unto my said Executrix in lieu of the jointure that she now hath in the said lands and tenements.
And I desire my loving wife ever to have an especial care of my cousin, JOHN GARNER, and in all her lifetime, and especially at the making of her last Will to do for him as if he were a son of her own.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written.
William Rucke
